The whole body is mapped out on your feet and hands (even your ears!)
Applying gentle pressure to these points allows your body to re-establish healthy communication between all parts.
Reflexology releases blockages in energy flow, creating the optimum conditions for your healing.
This therapy is very effective when used for stress-management (relaxation!) Stress in implicated as the root cause of much disease and disharmony. Smoothing out the communication channels, reflexology enables you to think simply and clearly.
Once established any condition of the body, mind or emotions can be addressed through reflexology. It is recommended by many healthcare professionals as a dynamic, yet gentle therapy.
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese healing art, beneficial for all aspects of well-being.
Developed by practitioners through the centuries to balance mind and body by stimulation of pressure points and energy channels, receivers of Shiatsu often find it revitalising as well as deeply relaxing.

Shiatsu can be effective for one-off treatments, but is most beneficial when adopted as part of a lifestyle decision.
Many now agree that regular exercise is important in maintaining health, but it is equally important to practice regular relaxation.
Balance in all things.
Radiance Healing is Julia's personal name for her brand of Spiritual Healing. It is a natural technique for stress relief, enhancing the body's own healing powers and promoting wholeness and balance.

Spiritual Healing is the channelling of Universal/Holy Life Healing Energy from the Source of All That Is, through a healer, to a patient, but it is not necessary to hold any particular faith - it is effective no matter what your beliefs.
The best description in general terms of what the energy is is Timeless & Boundless Loving LIGHT - that is why it is called Radiance. It is usually directed through the hands, sometimes touching and sometimes not.
It relaxes, clears blocks, replaces any depletion of energy, balances, energizes and boosts the body's own processes/immune system.
Healing can be used for any condition or illness and has the advantage of being non-invasive, therefore without side effects.

Healing is complementary to any other therapy or treatment. Patients are always advised to contact their Doctors about any medical condition. Healing is not a substitute or alternative. Healing is recognised by the NHS as a therapy and the GMC permits doctors to refer patients to healers. Healers may attend hospital in-patients who request their services. Healing can help prepare patients for surgery, reducing anxiety, shock, pain, medication needs and the amount of time spent in hospital, generally speeding up recovery.

Spiritual Healing penetrates the deepest levels of a person's being where many illnesses have their origin, for example stress, tension, and fatigue - so that symptoms disappear when the cause is revealed and removed. Changes in attitude and quality of life often follow. The power of nature to enable us to help ourselves, recognised for thousands of years, has been overshadowed in modern times by the growing emphasis on technology. It is this power which spiritual healers seek to tap, addressing illness and injury at its source and aiding recovery at all levels of the patient's being.

What Happens During A Radiance Healing Session?
The sessions will be informal and relaxing. The first one may be up to an hour long, with subsequent ones being slightly shorter. Proper and confidential records will be kept throughout. You will not be asked to remove any clothing except coat, hat and shoes perhaps.
You will be either seated on a chair, or lying on a couch. You will be encouraged to discuss how you feel, and the process will be explained. You will be invited to breathe deeply, relax, and close your eyes if you wish. It helps to imagine you are in some place you love especially. Relaxing music will also be on offer.
Healers generally work with their hands a short distance from the body to start with and then will use a light touch if you have given permission. Patients receiving healing may experience coolness, heat, tingling, or the sensation that their pain is rising to the surface and dispersing. Sometimes they feel nothing, but still benefit. Benefits are not always immediate, sometimes they may emerge gradually.

What can Radiance Healing do for me?
It can help with a wide range of physical and psychological difficulties.
It is a process of revitalisation, relaxation, and release at a very profound level that helps your body to adjust and heal.
It seeks out the underlying cause as well as the presenting symptom - this can mean the outcome my be beneficial in an unexpected way.
You may experience some emotional relief as part of the process.
Healing is often about restoring balance to your life, about feelings, and about your relationships with others.
It can be especially helpful in crisis situations and with terminal illness.

Counselling can help by:
Providing a confidential, non-judgemental relationship in which to talk about your problem.
Providing support during a difficult time.
Offering a safe place where you can explore your feelings.
Helping you to discover how the pattern for present problems may be rooted in the past and how to change things.
Helping to identify and change unhelpful behaviour.
Helping you to identify choices.
EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique, originates from the ancient Chinese meridian therapies of Acupressure and Acupuncture (EFT does not involve needles).
EFT works on the meridians to eradicate negative emotions thereby restoring and balancing your energy system.

NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming, is a method of programming the brain to maximise and empower your skills, capabilities and behaviour gaining greater focus and creating associations for success. A manual for the brain.

The areas NLP & EFT can be applied to are numerous. From migraine to asthma, stress to phobias & addictions to serious illness.
Sometimes you just can’t see outside the box, no matter how much people give you encouragement and remind you of your skills you feel stuck and quite often overwhelmed. With the right guidance however you can learn to think differently and build your own new strategies for moving forward and dealing with issues that previously seemed insurmountable.
NLP & EFT give you those tools and allow you to grow a set of beliefs that support a healthy mind and body.
Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a safe, natural and non-invasive therapy with very few contra-indications. It stimulates self-healing in the body facilitated by light touch techniques from the therapist. It is commonly used to treat a wide range of health complaints in people of all ages from infants to the elderly.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy is often used as a preventative therapy by many people to strengthen their resistance to disease and enhance overall health. It is also excellent at eliminating the negative effects of stress and tension. Many clients report a greater sense of well-being after a treatment.
Cranio-Sacral Therapy is based on the natural movement of fluids which hsurround the brain, spinal cord and whole nervous system. The movement of these fluids influences the whole body and produces a rhythmical pulse, often referred to as ‘the breath of life’.
For the body to function well it is important that these fluids have a free flow around the body. But due to various reasons like injury, disease, tension etc. restrictions can occur and alter the flow of these fluids.
Reiki is a therapy that draws energy from the universal life force that is all around us. Practitioners channel this e nergy flow through their hands and into the client.
We should all have direct access to this flow, but shock and injuries, both physical and emotional, interrupt and block our ability to absorb this flow. Disease and disharmony result.

Profoundly relaxing, reiki releases blocks in the body’s energy systems and structures. The beneficial effects are not always immediately felt. However, reiki can provide a straightforward and simple way of healing, especially with long standing conditions of the body and mind.

Reiki is a blissful experience, with your body and mind using the universal energy to clear disrupting patterns to create harmony.
All this, whilst you are (usually) lightly sleeping!
Indian Head Massage feature in the earliest of Ayurvedic texts, which are over 4000 years old.
Treatments involve work on the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, scalp and face – all of which are vulnerable to stress and tension.
Holistic Massage, also known as Therapeutic Massage, is a ‘hands on’ therapy that is generally interpreted as treatment related to the whole person, i.e. mind, body and spirit.
Massage is performed using only vegetable oils. It can prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress and it can also promote health.
More than 80% of people develop foot problems at some time during their life. These range from the relatively minor to the potentially crippling, but all involve patient discomfort.

The Chiropodist (otherwise known as a podiatrist) is dedicated to the prevention and correction of these disorders in addition to alleviating the discomforts they cause.

A normal Chiropody treatment includes:
Nails cut and filed
Corns removed
Hard skin removed
Foot massage with specially selected creams
Advice about ongoing foot care.
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a system of medicine used for over 2,500 years to restore, promote and maintain good health. By inserting fine needles into acupuncture points located along channels beneath the skin the practitioner can stimulate the body's own healing response and help restore its natural balance.

How many treatments will I need?
Every patient is different and acupuncture treatments are unique to each individual. Frequency and length of treatment depends on your individual condition. Most patients start coming for treatment weekly and as treatment progresses, the interval between treatment lengthens to fortnightly and then monthly if ongoing treatment is required. As a rule the longer you have had a complaint the longer it will take to improve. Some change is usually felt after five treatments, although occasionally only one or two treatments are required.

Is it safe?
Only single-use, pre-sterilised, disposable needles are used, therefore there is no danger of cross infection. Responses to treatment can sometimes include tiredness or mild dizziness, and on occasion minor bruising may occur. However, all such reactions are short-lived.

Does it hurt?
Acupuncture needles are much finer than needles used for blood tests or injections. When the needle is inserted, the sensation is often described as a tingling or dull ache which lasts only a second or two and is quite acceptable to most people.

Does acupuncture interfere with medication?
Acupuncture has no adverse effect on medications and there is no need to stop medications before acupuncture treatment. It may be that some medications (e.g. sleeping tablets) can be reduced or withdrawn as treatment progresses, in consultation with the GP or other medical practitioner.
Hypnosis is a condition of profound relaxation which you allow yourself to enter, during which time there is an altered state of conscious awareness.

For over two hundred years the technique of hypnosis has been used in medicine to treat a wide range of physical, psychological and emotional disorders. It has also long been recognised that hypnosis may successfully be combined with other approaches and techniques in counselling and psychotherapy.

In 1977, the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) formally endorsed the new term hypno-psychotherapy, as ‘the branch of psychotherapy which uses hypnosis’. Hypno-psychotherapy recognises that there are many ways of looking at how the mind works. Some people, for instance, take the view that our thoughts and actions are mainly affected by the way we look at the world and how it treats us. Others believe that we are mostly d riven by our ‘subconscious’ mind, which is taken to be the store of all our experiences and emotions.

Whatever theory of the mind is applied, hypnosis can be integrated with appropriate psychotherapeutic approaches to help bring positive changes.

Hypnosis customarily creates a deeply relaxed state in which mental stress and bodily tension are reduced. In this relaxed state, the mind is usually more open to the process of change. As such, client and therapist can safely work together, using an agreed approach, to enhance mental, physical a nd emotional well-being.
Traditional Thai Massage is the ancient healing art which combines acupressure, passive stretching, and meditation.
Like traditional massage therapy, Thai Massage helps to increase flexibility and relieve the effects of stress and anxiety, ease muscle strains and promote balance and well being.
Osteopathy is an established system of diagnosis and treatment with it’s main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body. It is a safe and effective form of physical medicine that reduces or removes pain by treating muscles and joints.
Osteopathy is also recognised by the British Medical Association as a discrete clinical discipline.

At your initial visit, a full detailed case history will be taken, followed by an examination and detailed assessment of your movements and areas of muscle tension to establish a diagnosis.
It may also be necessary to carry out additional special tests to aid the diagnosis.

TREATMENT
Osteopathy is an effective treatment for a wide variety of painful and chronic conditions. It incorporates various gentle techniques such as soft tissue massage, stretching techniques, articulation and manipulation of the affected joints.
Every patient is unique and therefore the treatment is tailored to suit their individual needs to restore normal movement and posture.

OSTEOPATHY AND PATIENT PROTECTION
Osteopaths are trained to the highest standards and as a legal requirement, they are registered with the General Osteopathic Council and have to be insured. They are also required to regularly update their knowledge and skills with additional training.
Spiritual healing is what occurs whilst a healer channels the pure energy which exists in everything. Everyone is able to heal and healing is available to every person and animal.

Whilst Spiritual Healing is seen by some as Faith Healing, this is not necessarily the case as it also refers the fact that the person being healed is affected on a spiritual level. One can chose whichever point of view you feel most comfortable with because the end result is always the same. The fact remains that energy is passed from one person to another and healing occurs on the emotional, spiritual, mental and physical levels.

A Spiritual Healing session lasts an hour. It is a hand-on healing session in which the client lies on a healing bed, or sits in a chair if they feel more comfortable that way.
Who can have Sports Massage?
Sports Massage is not just for people who play sport or keep fit, it is for people in physically demanding jobs/office workers and not so obvious; occupational, emotional and postural stress related problems.

Why is Sports Massage different from other types of Therapeutic Massage?
In Sports Massage the Therapist will apply the techniques more firmly, working with deeper pressure.
A Sports Massage Therapist will also make more use of friction and trigger response techniques, which involves applying deep finger pressure to tissues repeatedly to break down adhesions and soft scar tissue.

What are the benefits and effects of Sports Massage?
Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS), caused by excessive/unfamiliar training loads—massage may help to reduce the effects and thus allow early return to normal training.
Lateral knee pain caused by increased tension in the ITB and associated musculature, responds well to Sports Massage.
Conditions known as ‘Golfers Elbow’ and ‘Tennis Elbow’, associated with Common Extensor/Flexor tendons can be managed with Sports Massage.
Postural aches caused by occupational/sporting posture leading to increased muscle tone can be managed by regular application of massage.

Swedish massage uses a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.
It also soothes the nerves and reduces stress on both an emotional and physical level.
Aromatherapy means "treatment using scents". It is a holistic treatment of caring for the body with pleasant smelling botanical oils such as rose, lemon, lavender and peppermint.

The essential oils are added to the bath or massaged into the skin, inhaled directly or diffused to scent an entire room.
Aromatherapy is used for the relief of pain, care for the skin, alleviate tension and fatigue and invigorate the entire body. Essential oils can affect the mood, alleviate fatigue, reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. When inhaled, they work on the brain and nervous system through stimulation of the olfactory nerves.
Homeopathy is an effective and scientific approach to healing which enables the body to re-balance itself and maintain health and vitality.

Through this holistic system of medicine, (‘holistic’ means we treat the whole person including mental and emotional factors as well as any physical aliments) homeopathy works by recognising that all symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony form within. The fundamental principle of ‘like cures like’ is based on the theory that if as substance can trigger similar symptoms to those suffered by the patient, then a minute dose of the same substance will encourage the body to overcome the illness. The remedy stimulates the body’s natural ability to cure itself.

It is safe and non-additive and suitable for all ages from newborn babies to the elderly.
Homeopathy is suited to both acute illness such as ‘flu, colds, coughs, cystitis, ear problems, injuries as well as more chronic conditions such as stress, depression, anxiety, fears, allergies, asthma, eczema, hay fever, sleep problems, period pain and IBS for example.
It is particularly effective in dealing with life changes such as: Childhood, Adolescence, Adulthood, Pregnancy, Birth & Post-Natal and the Menopause.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a method of clinical diagnosis and treatment concerned with the relationship between the structure of the body and the way it functions. It is an appropriate form of therapy for many problems affecting both muscles, joints and body mechanics as well as the nerves and the complex systems of our bodies.
Its strength lies in the unique way the patient is assessed from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint and the manual methods of treatment applied suit the needs of the individual patient.

What is Cranial Osteopathy?
Cranial osteopathy is a refined and subtle type of osteopathic treatment that encourages the release of stresses and tensions in the body, including the head. It is a gentle yet extremely effective approach and may b e used in a wide range of conditions for people of all ages, from birth to old age.

Osteopathy in Pregnancy
Enormous physical, hormonal and emotional changes take place during a woman’s pregnancy. The body has to adapt to carrying up to 20lb of baby, waters and placenta, which can impose physical strain on all the organs and tissues of the body.

Osteopathic treatment during and after pregnancy can be beneficial in a number of ways:
Easing some of the physical discomforts that occur, including general aches and pains, heartburn and fluid retention.
Preparing for the demands of labour.
Improving low back and pelvic function.
Helping the mother to recover after birth.

Osteopathy for Babies
Birth is one of the most stressful events of our lives. The baby’s head has the remarkable ability to absorb these stresses in a normal delivery. In order to reduce the size of the head, the soft bones overlap as the baby descends.
Many babies are born with off shaped heads a result. In the first few days, the head can be seen to gradually lose the extreme moulded shape, as the baby suckles, cries and yawns. However this un-moulding process is often incomplete especially if the birth has been difficult. As a result, the baby may have to live with some very uncomfortable stressed within it’s head and body.
Osteopathy, including the cranial approach is a gentle, safe and effecting form of treatment for babies and children. Very specific, skilled, light pressure is applied where necessary to assist the natural ability of the body to release stresses and tensions.

What can Osteopaths treat?
  • Pregnancy induced back pain
  • Postural problems associated with pregnancy
  • Fluid retention due to pregnancy
  • Newborn irritability and restlessness
  • Crying and unsettled babies
  • Trauma after difficult delivery i.e. forceps, ventouse
  • Sleeplessness in babies
  • Colic, sickness and wind
  • Feeding difficulties
  • Ear infections
  • Sinus and adenoidal problems
  • Newborn constipation and irregular bowel movements.
